New Haven Parklet Design Competition

In partnership with MakeHaven, goNewHavengo collected design submissions for a parklet that took up two parking spaces and was accessible to the public in New Haven. Participants were encouraged to incorporate elements of recreation, relaxation, and shade into their designs. The winning design (Urban Canopy) was awarded $3,000 to go towards construction of the parklet. The parklet was constructed in April 2018 and remained installed until November 1, 2018. Thanks to everyone who submitted. We hope to host another Parklet Design Competition soon!

What is a parklet?

A parklet is a sidewalk extension providing public space and amenities for people using the street. Parklets can include seating, recreation, green space, and other elements.
