Ocean Health

Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. Increased greenhouse gas emission contribute to the warming and acidification of oceans, which pose a huge threat to sea animal life and the sea rise level. Due to CO2 emissions, by 2050 the sea level in Long Island Sound, would rise close to two feet, causing significant damage to coastal infrastructure and wetlands. By taking public transportation, you can help save endangered turtles, fish, and ecosystems which are essential for ocean and community health. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Community Health

Strength lies in community. By uniting, we make significant impacts. CARbon Fridays unites us for ocean, community, and climate health, and this is a movement, not just a campaign. Reducing carbon emissions through using public transportation fosters connections, allows us to explore New Haven, and builds a stronger, united community.

Caring for each other and the planet creates a more equitable and sustainable world. This campaign counters recent administrative support for division, fossil fuel pollution, and self-interest through acts of unity and environmental stewardship.

Climate Health

Using less gasoline and SOVs decreases pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Walking, taking the train, bus, biking, carpooling, skateboarding, or using e-vehicles all contribute to fighting climate change. Moreover, reliance on fossil fuels creates economic vulnerabilities and delays renewable energy progress.
