Vision
Our vision is a more livable, vital New Haven, where everyone, regardless of income ability and neighborhood, can safely live, play, learn, and work.
Mission
Our mission is to promote health and well-being across the region by advancing safe, cost effective, and convenient transportation for getting into and around New Haven. We do this by collaborating with communities, government agencies, businesses, schools, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) across New Haven and Connecticut to plan outreach and awareness events, design specialized strategies to reduce car dependency, encourage local leaders to champion sustainable mobility, and advocate for a multi-modal transportation system that services everyone.
Priorities
-
Community: Enhancing safety for pedestrians and cyclist and making New Haven more people-friendly
-
Economy: Ensuring affordable modes of transportation for everyone and improving access to and for local businesses and employees
-
Education: Raising local awareness of transit alternatives in communities and government
-
Efficiency: Providing convenient, frequent options
-
Environment: Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particulate matter, black carbon created through transportation
-
Equity: Advocating for equal access for everyone
-
Health: Improving air quality, cutting rates of obesity, crashes, injuries, and fatalities
goNHgo is a coalition of partners that brings together organizations and individuals to increase the use of mass and active transportation options. We use our resources and relationships with employees and employers to promote alternative transit use. In doing so, we hope to create a healthier, more sustainable, more active city with lower public health costs. With global temperatures increasing, congestion and traffic intensifying, air quality worsening, and the obesity epidemic spreading, goNHgo is dedicated to doing what works: transportation demand management.
Every September, we set a basis for responsible commuting via our CarFree Challenge and month of events. Then, throughout the year, you can stay informed by staying involved in our events and using our website as a resource to help you plan your commute and reduce how often you use personal vehicles.
See how you can get involved!
