Clean Air Run

goNewHavengo and the New Haven Road Runners will host the 4th annual Clean Air Run on Saturday, May 9, 2020 in Edgewood Park.  Event Prep Details Here.

The Clean Air Run is a celebration of exercise, clean air, communities, and sustainability. Our vision is a healthy, vital New Haven. Our mission is to create a culture of Active Transportation that powers Clean Air. All Run proceeds will support goNewHavengo and creating a healthier, more sustainable New Haven community. 

 

The Clean Air Run is supported by the City of New Haven Transportation, Traffic, & Parking Department and the Parks, Recreation, & Trees Department.

Goals:

CLEAN AIR 

New Haven County suffers from some of the worst air quality in the country. Connecticut’s rate of children with asthma is 11.3%, almost 2% higher than the national rate.

 

MORE EXERCISE 

Less than 10% of adults in the US get the 30 minutes recommended daily requirement for physical activity. This can lead to obesity and cardiovascular problems. Exercise can be fun and has positive effects on other parts of your life as well, like increased focus and energy.

 

SUSTAINABILITY

We strive to nurture a community that doesn’t waste precious resources and ensures that we leave a better world for future generations. As a result, the Clean Air Run aims to accumulate as little waste as possible. Help us by not bringing in any trash and bringing your reusable water bottle and a canvas bag with you for any materials you pick up!

 

The Solution:

ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION 

Active transportation is travel powered by the human body – biking, walking, roller blading, skateboarding, etc. It is our solution because it doesn’t create air pollution, it’s cost effective, it’s healthy, and it doesn't require gas to power.
